The Monthly Memo
September 1, 1999
Dear Colleagues,
Please visit our web page. The site address is: heab.state.wi.us.
Points of Interest:
- Assembly and Senate budget conferees have not come to an agreement on the 1999-2001
biennial budget to date. I will keep you informed as progress is made.
- Due to print service changes, cost, and timeliness we will be moving to one hard copy
of the notification list and accompanying reports per school. As an alternative to the multiple
paper copies, we would like to offer electronic copies of the reports which would be available in
either a report form or a flat file. These files can be sent via Email or FTP. Some schools who
already receive the lists electronically have requested that we no longer send paper versions since
they are able to print whatever is needed from the electronic file. I thank those of you who
responded to my request to indicate whether you would like to receive report type electronic files
or flat files and whether or not you still want to receive a paper notification list. We are in the
process of implementing your requests. This change will occur as planned on October 1, 1999. Let me
know if you have any questions.
- Recently schools who offer four-year education degrees were notified of an emergency
rule change that affects the administration of the Minority Teacher Loan Program. If you should have
received information pertaining to this change and you did not, please contact me and I will send
the materials to you. If you have any questions related to the rule change, please contact me.
Points Related to Processing:
1999-2000
- 1999-2000 notification lists and other associated reports are scheduled to print 9/14/99
and 9/28/99. Due to changes in the State's print service, notification lists are being sent
out one day later. In the past, the lists were printed Tuesday nights and mailed Wednesdays. Now
they are printed Tuesday nights and mailed Thursdays.
- The 1999-2000 voucher (V) process began August 3, 1999. We will continue to run
the 1999-2000 vouchering process on Tuesday and Friday nights of each week. Just a reminder that we
cannot guarantee that your request can be loaded on the same day it has been received if the
information arrives after 12NOON. Please keep in mind that it takes two to three business
days after the vouchering process runs before checks are physically printed. So please plan
accordingly. Please only voucher funds for students who are registered for coursework. Contact me if
you have any questions.
