WISSIS Surveys Important Differences Between Federal and State Aid Regulations
These were sent out on September 1, 2004. Thanks in advance for your help in collecting this
critical statewide data.
Federal aid is blocked when students have defaulted on federal student loans, when they’re
incarcerated, or when they’ve been convicted of certain drug convictions. These violations cannot be
used to deny state aid to students. The exception is the TIP program which is partially federally
funded so must meet both state and federal eligibility criteria.
