Thank You
Saying good-bye has always been difficult for me; I never seem to have enough words to properly thank everyone and let you know how much I have learned from you. This is an important profession with remarkable people. Your dedication to students in Wisconsin is astounding, particularly those students who struggle against insurmountable obstacles as they attempt to earn a college degree.
I have seen the professionalism with which you approach your jobs, and I have heard heartbreaking stories from you about those students you are unable to help because of funding problems. But you all keep working and providing hope every day.
As I leave this appointed position, I am hearing many negative things about state employees. I am so proud to have worked with such dedicated professionals – both state and privately employed. If everyone knew you – whether you work here at HEAB, in a system office, a private organization, or in a college or university – if those suspicious of your work understood what you do and your dedication to students, I believe there would be fewer misunderstandings. I am proud to have had the opportunity to have been in state service, to have been a state employee. I am so grateful for the help you provided me, the advice you gave, the "heads-up" when a decision I made could have been better. I feel so lucky that I got to meet and work with such a fun group of people. I appreciate your confidence in me. I am most grateful for your kindness and friendship.
I don't know what the future brings for me. I do know that I am better for having worked with all of you.
Thank you for everything.
Fondly,
Connie Hutchison, PhD
Executive Secretary
